Somewhat confused
by Rana Marrello on Feb.07, 2012, under Eve
Editors note: this was written months ago, but not posted for some reason. So I post it as it is and unfinished
Fake edit, this post stemmed from some thoughts about my future and has become some sort of, well general about different views of what eve is, and how it should be played.
I’m kinda considering my future. Many of my friends have moved on, or emoragequitted.
But then again I’ve always been a solo player, so should this be a problem? But, and this is the crux the matter, I’m a 3rd class citizen. No, not because I’m a mini, but because the person that controls me IRL has 2 other accounts that are considered to be his mains.
Ones a Caldari miner and mission runer that hasn’t mined in a year. The other is a Gallente pilot that’s skilled at flying stuff.
After getting kicked from their 0.0 corp for inactivity (I did tell them I was taking a break), ive been chatting to a 5year old mining corp that seems good. For at least the Caldari. I’m happy for the Gallente to stay in an NPC corp for the time being.
Now, this new corp has a probem they seem to have gone and got themselves on some shit list that Highsec war deccers seem to use.
They currently have 3 wars going on. From what I understand, they’ve been at war for the last few months with one or another corp.
All well and good, eve is designed this way. There is very little moaning by the carebear corp, as they are aware of this. But there is a resigned attitude.
The problem is the members are either not logging on or just leaving corp. While many of the leavers say they will return, and probably have good intentions to do so, the longer they are out the harder it is to remember about the corp.
The loyal members ( I specifically used that term) have stuck around, and often tried to keep going about their business.
Why do carebears jump the corp Rana? I wants to kill ‘dem untilz ‘dey crys, ‘den we farms them again.
Eve is a sandbox game. This have massive positives and some pretty large negatives.
From the carebears view they want to mine, mission etc in their own world with their friends, without interference. While this is possible, eve was not designed this way. Interaction between humans is the norm for this game. Many if not most griefers, PVPers, and 0.0 guys interact on a daily business with many more people outside their corp then your average carebear.
This is a good thing. As I said eve was designed as a mmo. It’s not a solo game. Human to human interaction with all their strange and un-predictable ways is what makes this game. Be honest, would you still play it after all these years if it wasn’t for the humans?
Anyway, along with this welcome interaction, comes a big problem: unwelcome visitors. Be it a can flipper or an entire fleet of gankers appearing out of no where, It’s unwelcome.
There are pilots out there that think “This is my game, you have no right to interfere with my gaming experience as I’ve paid for this”. There are several variations of this, somewhat extreme view, they usually boildown to, perceived ownership of the wreck, can, or game.
If ya read the eula (too dry by half). One line springs to the front. The esrb notice. It states : game experiance may change during online play. Very true. My experience in *REF* off and online show that
So, we know from above that many carebears are insular in their view of eve. Many have no interest in 0.0, wars, FW, indeed anything that may distract them from playing the game the way they want to.
There is nothing wrong with this way of life. They are no more important to the game then a -10 pirate. Equally they are no less important. Economically? That’s for another post.
On the otherhand gankers, pirates, and privateers, want interaction. They need it to be called the above names. Otherwise they become ratters or mission runners.
We end up with 2 groups that are not 100% opposed as many people have multiple accounts. The carebear account providing for the PVP account. But you can be the biggest pirate on one account, but you will not welcome a gankers doing what comes naturally to them now will you?
Going back to the 5year old corp, they are considering disbanding. Some are thinking of quitting all togetther citing the aparrant lack of protection in space. They have no experience in PVP, and often cannot fly above a cruiser. What are theyvsupposed to do to stop the wars?
1, disbanded.
2, attempt a payoff of every corp that declares? Therefore bankrupting them selves or at the very least playing the game to pay for the wars.
3, dock up. They’ve done this for 2 months.
Some of these leavers are this time if it wasn’t
Help me!

Well, that lasted long huh. 2 out of 4 account have been subbed. I’m trying to avoid subscribing the others, but its getting hard not to.
I like the changes to the new patch. Very user friendly. I just wish they had fixed all those niggles a long time ago.
Time for an update.

It’s been a long time. And I’m sure the smart people amongst you know what’s happened to Rana.
For the rest of you : around 4-5 month’s ago I got bored with EVE. After never thinking I would. I’ve had moments of boredom before and changed my direction several times.
But this time it’s for real.
I’ll not drag this post out.
The site will stay around as the domain is used for other stuff. Keep safe, and fly like ya stole it.
How to loose a maurader
by Rana Marrello on Oct.02, 2011, under Eve
“It’s a really great ship.”
“How do you cope with close in frigates? Don’t they scram?”
“Yep. But that’s easily sorted with a smarty”
“Ohh”, Said our interested Ninja, “I’ve never seen one”
“I’ll demonstrate, just stay out of 4km range. Better make it 6km. I forget the real range”
“Np mate.”
*Click* cool Smartie effects.
Ninja instructs ship to close in on Maurader.
“WTF!!”
“xxxx you are a criminal yada yada yada”
*Pop 1 Maurader*
Salvage Hmmm.
Tears to follow.
WTF? An Update?
by Rana Marrello on Sep.12, 2011, under Eve
Yes. quite possibly this is an update.
I’ve subbed for a while to have a look see at what’s going on. I’ve kept up to date on the basic’s that have happened, but I’m very out of date.
I also need to take stock of where I am and what I’m doing. I’ve got stuff and assests all over the place. Maybe time to drag out some alts and get my shit together.
One of the many reasons I posted rarely was that I have other toons. A trader, 2 0.0 living toon’s that I was spending to much time on. Rana became a “When 0.0 is quiet”. I think she’s worth more then that.
As the 0.0 side is closed (Alliance left the area while I was away) I need to get my 2 toons and as much stuff as I can jump out. And sell the rest if I can get it to sell. While the current owners are RA and AAA they don’t seem that busy in the area. It used to be that busy that it was like trading in a small hub. Not any more. And I cannot get to any of the stuff that not in the station my alts are in so as to jump it out. So apart from the station my toons are in Everthing get’s sold or trashed.
Meh, my own fault.
I’ve spent my eve life moving stuff around it seems. They call EvE spreadsheet on-line, well, it’s a futuristic version of trucking.

too many places. As Khalia Nestune wrote here CCP’s been reducing the abilities that Ninja’s have over Mission bears. Kahalia says that Ninjaing is becomming harder and harder to get loot or tears. Kahalia’s one of the smart guys, if that’s his opinion he’s most likley correct. Just as I come back. Great.
I always meant to pull all my stuff together, sell of the dross and see what was left. What I ended up was buying a new xx ship instead of going to get one I already had fitted. I guess it got to the point where i was spending to much time moving stuff then doing stuff. and 0.0 is like being in the army. “Hurry up and wait”
Soooooooooo. I’ve left 0.0 apart from the stuff I cannot sell, and a toon to sell it all. Rana and other Alts are compressing ma shit (I is down ‘wid ‘da homies) to a reasonable level. IE where my assests list isn’t full of dross that I don’t want or will use. I guess I’m eve’s equivilant of a hobo.
After that?
